A Welcome Message

The Atlanta Chess School was founded in 1994 and our focus has always been to teach chess to children. We conduct elementary and middle school chess clubs in Metro Atlanta. The clubs usually meet on a given week day, for one hour, immediately after-school in the media center. The parents pay our company a reasonable fee and all supplies are furnished.

We teach the chess principles that have proven to be sound by the great Grandmasters and encourage children to analyze rather than memorize. Many studies have shown that playing chess increases a child’s reasoning ability, cognitive skills and improves logical thinking. From our own experience, we have found that playing chess also increases children’s self-esteem and gives them self-confidence that can carry over into other activities.

We offer private and group lessons, conduct local tournaments and summer chess camps. Our instructors are nationally certified and are qualified tournament directors.
